Your agreement
These terms govern your access to the Keys Buddy website, account and licensing service, desktop application, and beta builds. By registering, installing, or using Keys Buddy, you agree to these terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.
If you use Keys Buddy for an organization, you confirm that you can bind that organization. If you cannot legally enter a contract where you live, a parent or guardian must agree for you.
Software license
Subject to these terms, Keys Buddy grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the application for your own lawful performances and production work, including commercial performance and production.
You may not sell or redistribute the application, remove or alter its notices, bypass the registration or licensing service, use it to provide an unauthorized hosted service, or reverse engineer it except where applicable law expressly permits that activity. Paid add-ons may be offered in future; if they are, their own purchase terms will be shown before you buy.
Invite-only downloads
Downloading Keys Buddy requires an email address and a valid invite code. A code may have a limited number of places and an expiry date. One place is used per email address; downloading again with that email and code does not use another place. Revoked or expired codes cannot issue new download links.
Share a code only with people you intend to invite, and do not publish download links. We may revoke codes to prevent abuse or manage availability. An invitation does not promise future releases or change the license terms for the build you receive.
Your account
Downloading Keys Buddy, and setting it up on a machine, asks for an email address. That address creates an account so that support can identify your setup and so that any future paid add-on can be attached to it.
Give an address you control and keep it accurate. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Ask us to correct or delete it at any time by writing to support@joshaquino.com; see the Privacy Policy for how that data is handled and for your rights over it.
Product email about future paid releases is only sent if you opt in and then confirm that address, and every such message can be unsubscribed from. Declining it does not limit your use of the application in any way.
Beta tester licenses
An invited beta tester may access the private download and request a beta license by entering an email address that Keys Buddy has approved for the beta. Before downloading, the tester must affirm that they have read and accepted these terms and read the Privacy Policy. The service does not provide a public direct DMG link.
The service generates a license key associated with that approved email, beta build identifier, and one machine fingerprint. An unapproved or removed email cannot download the beta or receive or refresh beta access. The beta license and download are personal, non-transferable, have no cash value, and are separate from the public release.
Each beta license lasts 30 days from issuance. When Keys Buddy publishes a build with a new beta build identifier, the tester may receive a new 30-day beta license for that build using the same approved email and machine. A new build does not extend the license for an older build or guarantee that another beta will be released. Reinstalling the same beta, changing the entered email, or clearing local data does not create another term for that same build and machine.
Beta downloads and keys may be limited, suspended, or revoked for sharing, automated access, security abuse, breach of these terms, removal from the approved tester list, or the end of the beta program.
Early access, beta builds, and analytics
Early-access and beta software is unfinished. Features may change, fail, corrupt a rack, produce unexpected audio, or stop being supported. Keep backups and test every setup before a rehearsal, recording, broadcast, or live performance.
A beta build may require pseudonymous product analytics as a condition of beta participation. The beta invitation or download notice will identify this requirement and provide these terms and the Privacy Policy before enrollment. Required events are limited to the categories described there. If you do not agree to the beta license rules or this analytics condition, do not request a beta key or use that beta build. You may leave the beta at any time and use a generally available build instead, subject to its own availability and license terms. Analytics in public builds remain optional and off by default.
Your sounds and setup
You retain ownership of your rack files, performances, presets, and other content. You are responsible for having the rights needed to use and perform any SoundFonts, plugins, samples, MIDI files, ambient loops, or other material you load into Keys Buddy.
Third-party plugins and content remain subject to their own licenses and terms. Keys Buddy is not responsible for third-party software, content, compatibility, or availability.
Feedback and acceptable use
If you send feedback, crash details, or suggestions, you grant Keys Buddy a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use that feedback to develop and improve the product without an obligation to compensate you. This does not transfer ownership of your music or other content.
Do not use the service to violate law, harm others, interfere with infrastructure, test security without permission, distribute malware, or obtain access to another person's account or license.
Availability and changes
We may update, replace, suspend, or discontinue a beta feature, build, or online service. We aim to give reasonable notice when practical, but early-access services may change without notice when security or reliability requires it.
Updates may be required for compatibility, security, licensing, or continued service access. Internet access may be required for registration, validation, updates, or support.
Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Keys Buddy and all early-access or beta services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular performance, compatibility, merchantability, or non-infringement.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Keys Buddy will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost performances, recordings, profits, data, or opportunities. Our aggregate liability relating to the product will not exceed the amount you paid for Keys Buddy in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply where law does not permit them.
Termination and updates to these terms
You may stop using Keys Buddy at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach, license abuse, security risk, or unlawful use. On termination, your right to use the affected software or service ends, but provisions that by their nature should survive will remain effective.
We may update these terms as Keys Buddy changes. Material updates will be posted here and, when appropriate, presented before continued use. Questions can be sent to support@joshaquino.com.
